If you are a motorist, one thing you have to deal with is a flat truck tire. In such instances, your flat tire should be replaced immediately to avoid road accidents. Since having flat tire is a possibility that can happen anytime while driving, then you should do what you can to prevent it and learn how to replace it when and where it happens.

Checking the condition of your tires is another preparation you need to do before going on long drives. It is also wise to monitor the air pressure of the spare tires that you bring along so that it will be useful in times of tire complications. It is also appropriate to bring along with you your trucks manual, flat tire kit and tire tools so that by the time you experience a flat tire the best thing you can do is to pull off the road slowly and get to a spot where you won't be hit by other trucks. Then apply the basic step to change a flat tire. Sited below are some tips to consider in changing a flat truck tire.

1. First step would be to locate the spare tire, be sure that the spare tire is in good condition and not flat. It is advisable that you check your tire air pressure conditions beforehand so that you won't waste your time in bringing inadequate spare tires.

2. When replacing truck tires, remember to do it on a flat surface area. Make sure that the emergency break is set and the tire should be blocked using large bricks or stone to prevent it from moving when you are changing the tires. It is necessary to loosen up the wheel tugs first, using a tire iron before you jack your car or else you might rotate the wheel instead of the wheel tugs when exerting force in loosening up the tugs.

3. The next step after loosening the tugs is to put the jack underneath the car. Just refer to your cars manual for frames in your car that are hard enough to hold the jack underneath.

4. Next is to raise the car with the jack until it is fully raised off the ground. Then remove the wheel lugs completely and set them aside first. Be sure to put them in a secured place so that it will not be lost, you still have to use it after the spare tires are placed.

5. Once the tire is off the wheel studs, replace it with the spare tire. Positioning the spare tire over the wheel studs is one of the most difficult step to be undertaken when changing a flat tire. Thus you have to fit in the holes of the wheel to the wheel studs.

6. Once the spare tire is hanging in the wheel studs, screw back each wheel lugs in place and tighten them up using a tire iron so that the wheel won't drop off.

7. Once the spare tires are in place lower down the jack and pull it away from the vehicle. These spare truck tires should only be used temporarily thus most spare tires have limited speed but it does help you get back to your house or to the nearest service station. - 29952
